![]() Allison Lewis - Head Coach (Sideline & Competitive) This will be Allison's 3rd year as head coach for Canton Cheer. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 2003, where she was on the varsity cheerleading team for 4 years. After high school, she attended the University of Michigan, where she cheered for the football and basketball teams for four years. She was also a member of the Champion Cheerleading staff for three years. Allison graduated from the Division of Kinesiology at U of M in 2007 and began coaching Canton Cheerleading that fall, while also pursuing her Masters in Human Nutrition. She most recently completed her Masters program in April 2009 and plans to pursue a career in sports nutrition or wellness coaching after completing her Registered Dietitian requirements. In the meantime, she keeps busy with coaching and is excited for the upcoming year with Canton Cheer! |
![]() Dorothy Brown - Assistant Coach (Sideline & Competitive) This will be Dorothy's 3rd year coaching Canton Cheer. Her first two years here were coaching the Junior Varsity team before moving up to Varsity. Prior to coaching at Canton she coached at Truman High School for 3 years, 2 of those being a volunteer assistant for JV before becoming the head JV Coach. Dorothy attended Woodhaven High School and was on the varsity cheer team before transferring to Truman High School where she was also a varsity cheerleader and graduated in 2004. After high school she attended Central Michigan University for 2 years before transferring to Oakland University where she graduated with a degree in Psychology in 2008. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Counseling at Oakland University and plans to pursue a career in Family & Marriage Counseling. In the meantime she keeps busy with coaching and taking care of her daughter and is excited for the upcoming year working with Varsity! |
Melisa Gilbey (Sideline & Competitive) This is Melisa’s first year coaching for Canton and she couldn’t be more thrilled! She graduated from Rochester High School in 2006 where she was on the freshman cheer team for one year, JV for two and Varsity during her senior year. Melisa stayed involved with cheerleading by volunteering as a coach during the summer for the Rochester Middle School teams. After high school Melisa continued her education at the University of Michigan and will be completing her Movement Science degree from the School of Kinesiology next year. Currently she is preparing to apply to Dental School this summer and plans to open her own practice. Meanwhile Melisa keeps busy with coaching and singing in the Women’s Glee Club and is very excited for the upcoming year with JV! |
Teona Wash (Sideline & Competitive) This will be Teona's first year coaching the JV team at Canton HS! Her first two years as a head coach came with Oak Park HS, as their Varsity Coach. She graduated from Mercy High School in 2003 where she was on the Varsity cheer team for three years, and Co-Captain for two. While at Mercy, she volunteered her time as the head coach for her former middle school team at Christ the King Elementary School in Detroit. She went on to college at Grand Valley State University and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Communications in December of 2007. Since returning home to Detroit from Grand Rapids, Teona has dove back into cheering head first! She has actively been a HS coach for two years and is looking forward to her third year and new role at Canton! In the fall, she plans on continuing her education at Oakland University, where she will enter their Accelerated second-degree Nursing Program. Meanwhile, she is absolutely ecstatic for the many thrills that will come this season coaching the JV team!! |
Melissa Knepshield (Sideline & Competitive) This will be Melissa’s first year helping with Canton Cheerleading!!!! Being able to coach the first freshman team is such an honor and she couldn’t be more thrilled for the opportunity. While in high school, Melissa was a Livonia Churchill cheerleader and a volunteer cheerleading coach for the Livonia Junior Athletic League, Oriole and Eagle football teams. After graduating high school in 2004, she then went on to attend GO CHIEFS!!!!! |
Littany Supka - Littany is a 2003 graduate of Mt. Pleasant high school where she was a member of the cheer team for 3 years. She most recently graduated from the University of Michigan in 2007.
Mariah Lewis - A 2009 graduate of Mt. Pleasant high school, she currently attends the University of Michigan. She is a former MPHS cheerleader and was apart of the 2009 Divison 2 State Runner-up team. She is also Coach Allison's sister.
